The release of the book "Konknni Cholchitram" on 21st September 2010 at Hotel Mandovi, Panjim, Goa, was a lively event that also brought back nostalgic memories of old Konkani movies and of the stalwarts who directed, produced and acted in them. Written by Isidore Dantas, the book was sponsored and launched by Goa Sudharop, a diaspora volunteer, non-profit organisation working for the benefit of Goa and Goans worldwide. And as the book was released at the hands of Ibonio D'Souza, Executive Director, Goa Sudharop, the band played a few bars of the song "Congratulations", a fitting tribute to a classic work so painstakingly put together by Mr. Dantas.

The N.S.S unit of St. Xavier’s College in collaboration with ‘GOA SUDHAROP' organized a one day state level workshop on 23rd Sept. 2010, on the theme‘GOAN VOLUNTEER SPIRIT’. Different colleges from all over Goa participated in the workshop. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Ibonio D’Souza, Executive Director of ‘Goa Sudharop’

In his welcome address, the Principal of the college, Dr. (Fr.) Walter de Sa, encouraged the students to begin a new era of team spirit, co-operation and social service and make a difference, by voluntarily following the N.S.S motto Not Me But You. The Chief Guest, Mr. Ibonio D’Souza stated that ‘GOA SUDHAROP,' has dedicated the year 2010 as the year of the ‘Goan Volunteer Spirit’ to unite the citizens and the youth and help eradicate social evils like violence, ignorance, corruption and environmental hazards. In the first Technical Session, Mr. Pravin Sabnis, (H.R. trainer, theatre person) inspired the students to follow Gandhiji’s saying: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”He boosted the spirit of the students with a ‘Yes’ song having easy lyrics, a rhythmic tune and an optimistic message towards life. Dr. Bernadette Gomes (Sociologist, teacher, artist) during her session on ‘Empowerment’ screened a documentary “GOULYAS”, a rural, integral tribe of the Goan society thereby sensitizing the students on the hardships faced by the villagers in rural areas.

Fr. Agnel College of Arts and Commerce, Pilar, in collaboration with Goa Sudharop Development INC USA, organised a one-day workshop on the theme “Goan Volunteer Spirit” at the College premises on 24th September 2010. Fr.Frederick Rodrigues, Principal of the College conducted a prayer service followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp and a formal welcome. Mr.Ibonio D'souza, Executive Director of Goa Sudharop, was the chief guest. He gave a brief description of Goa Sudharop which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, adding that we have to live in harmony with others and each contribute our bit towards society. Ms Angela Dias, the Co-ordinator of the workshop, elaborated on the theme of the workshop. She urged the youth to work towards making a difference individually and collectively in our ailing society which would also help them to positively transform their lives in the process.
