PRESS NOTE

Goa Sudharop in collaboration with the Village Groups of Goa is organizing at 3.30 p.m sharp on Saturday 19th November 2011, in Grace Church Hall, Margao, talks on “Sustainable Development of Goa”. Carmen Miranda, a well known Goan settled in London and Chairperson of Save Goa Campaign UK, who has done extensive research on mining in Goa will reveal with facts and figures how rampant mining activity is destroying Goa. She will also dwell on the urgent need for a development plan that will protect Goa’s natural ecology and provide in the long run, benefits for Goa and Goans.
Reputed environmentalist, Rajendra Kerkar will speak on the need to conserve Goa’s natural resources, in particular the rich bio-diversity of the Western Ghats, and on the demand by green activists for a Tiger reserve in the Mhadei region, where there are no human settlements. The function is open to all. It is expected that citizens concerned about Goa and Goans will turn in large numbers to listen to these eminent personalities on these burning issues
